Our Team

The HMB Sargassum Project was started in 2019 by a group of neighbors in North Akumal committed to addressing the sargasso problem on Half Moon Bay (HMB) and across the wider Caribbean. Our team includes Americans and Mexicans of diverse backgrounds with experience in engineering, environmental policy, scuba diving, non-profit management, sales, contract management and communications.  After more than 30 months of research on a wide range of sargassum mitigation methods, we now UNANIMOUSLY recommend the installation of a seasonal sargassum barrier outside the reef in Half Moon Bay.
